6 tips to stay away from fake designer bags
1. Research the item.
If you are not planning to buy a bag from a brick-and-mortar store or a reputable handbag shop, you must make sure you research the item thoroughly.
A great way to do this is to go to a brick-and-mortar store and see the real bag in person.
2. Be wary of unbelievable bargains.
If a bag retails for $2,500 and it is being offered for $150, you are most likely being ripped off.
3. Check hardware.
Pay close attention to the zippers, hooks and closures, which are often the clearest signs to determine whether a bag is fake or not:
– The hardware of a designer bag must have all the same colors and lines (except Chloé, which produces bags with mixed hardware)
– The door must be able to open and close easily.
4. Pay close attention to seams and stitching.
– The seams of a designer bag are rarely glued
– If the stitching looks sloppy, uneven, or crooked, it’s probably a fake bag
– The stitching on a new bag never frays
5. You cannot fake leather.
Leather items must smell like leather, so if you smell glue, rubber or chemicals, you probably have a fake bag in your hand.
Let’s take a closer look at the handle of the bag.
6. Stay away from online designer bag stores.
Most manufacturers have outlet stores that sell discounted items.
